JORDANIE: SISTERHOOD IS GLOBAL INSTITUTE (SIGI)
SIGI was established in 1998 as a non-governmental, not-for-profit, independent
organization
operating in Jordan. It began by a group of Jordanian women for women. The main goal of SIGI-Jo
is to reinforce the society attitudes and practices to include women issues within the entire
society plans, programs, strategies and reform processes. SIGI-JO advocates for the respect of
women rights, for the consolidation of their role as a key contributor in social development,
reforming policies and strategies, and security for the family or any other spheres.
These past years, SIGI worked on projects in the next sectors:
- Building capacity by helping to train and educate women in communities all
over Jordan.
- Civil society engagement: educate women on legal rights and voting laws in
order to create a fair and democratic society.
- Advocacy for gender equality and women’s rights in Jordan.
- Social Aid and Legal service for women and girls at risk of violence or
detained for honour crimes.
