Catalan Association for Peace
The Catalan Association for Peace (CAP) was created in 1990 thanks to men and
women from
different organizations and social movements. Together they committed to fight for peace,
disarmament and change in North/South relations. The mission of CAP is to change the living
conditions of the poorest and implement fairer social structures, the rightful expression of
individual and collective rights as well as the eradication of poverty.
CAP wants to encourage the citizen commitment and action by promoting the right to dignity for
all, trough cooperation, development, humanitarian action, education and social mobilization.
CAP is a Catalan organization but it also develops numerous partnerships with other social or
syndical organizations, local or national or international institutions in order to share the
efforts and define common objectives and actions. In its actions, CAP always tries to be
coherent, effective and efficient by orienting the action towards the defense of the right to a
sustainable livelihood, to peace, to life and security, the right to access basic services and
political participation for everybody as well as the right of the people self-determination. CAP
values are: participation and democratic culture, transparency, commitment, coherence
and social
transformations.
