JORDANIE: SISTERHOOD IS GLOBAL INSTITUTE (SIGI)

SIGI was established in 1998 as a non-governmental, not-for-profit, independent organization operating in Jordan. It began by a group of Jordanian women for women. The main goal of SIGI-Jo is to reinforce the society attitudes and practices to include women issues within the entire society plans, programs, strategies and reform processes. SIGI-JO advocates for the respect of women rights, for the consolidation of their role as a key contributor in social development, reforming policies and strategies, and security for the family or any other spheres.

These past years, SIGI worked on projects in the next sectors:

  1. Building capacity by helping to train and educate women in communities all over Jordan.
  2. Civil society engagement: educate women on legal rights and voting laws in order to create a fair and democratic society.
  3. Advocacy for gender equality and women’s rights in Jordan.
  4. Social Aid and Legal service for women and girls at risk of violence or detained for honour crimes.
