PALESTINE: PALESTINIAN MEDICAL RELIEF SOCIETY (PMRS)

PMRS was founded in 1979 to supplement the inadequate health infrastructures. Among the largest Palestinian NGOs, it provides curative and preventive care for populations, especially for families living in isolated regions. In addition to its emergency assistance, PMRS develops medical facilities to answer to the long-term sanitary needs of the population and to overcome the failure of public health services (maternity centers, optometry centers, mobile clinics etc.). PMRS aims to improve the physical and mental health and wellbeing of all Palestinians with no discrimination in terms of race, political opinion, social class or religious belief.

PMRS’s projects concern mainly the health of Palestinians, including specific needs of women and children. Moreover, PMRS aims to engage youths in society by training them to first aid actions, but also by giving them tools to develop their skills, their democratic mind and to create a gender equality. Besides, youths are also volunteers of summer camps organized for Palestinian children on topics such as solidarity and environment.
