LIBAN: THE NATIONAL INSTITUTION OF SOCIAL CARE AND VOCATIONAL TRAINING (NISCVT)

This Lebanese humanitarian NGO was established on the 12th of August in 1976, after the Tal Al Zaatar massacre in order to provide assistance and accommodation for the orphaned children who lost their parents. Nowadays it provides services for the Palestinian refugees in Lebanon and other disadvantaged people with other nationalities living in the camps or close to them. NISCVT aims to contribute to the development of the Palestinian community through services addressing the needs of the families, and through various gender-balanced projects empowering the potentials and skills of the children, youth, women and parents or guardians. Moreover, NISCVT foresees justice, peace, freedom, and national independence for the Palestinian people to return back their homeland where they can have their full rights as humans.



Objectives
  1. Empowering sponsored families, by supporting them to be able to improve their Socio-economic conditions.
  2. Provide the youth with a platform for self-expression and opportunities to open dialogues with youth from other countries.
  3. Develop economic and professional opportunities for youth through gender-balanced programs.
  4. Preserve the Palestinian identity by preserving its cultural heritage and transmitting it to the new generations.

NISCVT programs focus on education, social development, health and relief. Within these three fields of work, it maintains multipurpose centers, kindergartens, dental clinics, and psycho – social counseling centers.

The centers of the institution are allocated in Lebanon as the following:

Beirut: Main office (Administration) / Family Guidance Center / Embroidery Center / Three camps (Mar Elias, Shatila and Burj Barajneh)

South: Three centers in Tyre (Rashidieh camp, Burj Shemali camp, El Buss camp) / Two centers in Saida (Ein El Hillweh camp, Family Guidance Center in Al Taameer)

North: Nahr El Bared camp / Beddawi camp
Ba’albek: Wavel camp
